Description: The Doris Duke Clinical Scientist Development Award provides grants to junior physician-scientists to facilitate their transition to independent clinical research careers. The foundation plans to award up to 14 three-year grants in 2010 of $125,000 per year in direct costs and $10,000 per year in indirect costs to junior faculty level physician-scientists conducting clinical research in any disease area. UM Nominations Process: The University may nominate up to 2 candidates. Nominations (by other faculty members) or preliminary proposals by young scholars themselves should be 1-2 pages in length and describe why the nominee deserves the award and what research will be performed during the award period. Curriculum vitae should also be included. A committee of faculty members will screen applications/nominations and select the finalists to represent the University. Nominating materials should be sent electronically to Erica Dolesy (dole0025@umn.edu) before October 30, 2009.
