| Description: Supports the research and teaching careers of talented young faculty in the chemical sciences. Nominees must hold a full-time tenure-track academic appointment, and are normally expected to have been appointed no earlier than mid-year 2004. Criteria for selection include an independent body of scholarship attained within the first five years of their appointment as independent researchers, and a demonstrated commitment to education, signaling the promise of continuing outstanding contributions to both research and teaching. | |

| UM Nominations Process: Please include: 1) Cover page including Nominee's name, title, department, mo/yr of appointment, and descriptive title for research of 15-20 words. 2) Nomination letter from department head/chair (three page limit). 3) Summary description, with references, of the nominee's accomplishments as an independent faculty member and a description of research plans, including a statement addressing the nominee's dedication to education in the chemical sciences (three page limit). 4) CV of nominee that includes a list of publications and research support. (three page limit) 5) Budget plan (less than one page). 6) Three letters of support from individuals who know the nominee's capabilities and accomplishments. Letters should be addressed to the Internal Dreyfus Selection Committee, University of Minnesota. All materials should be sent via e-mail as attachments (.pdf or .doc) to facgrant@umn.edu.
