CRS goals statement
The purpose of Collaborative Research Services (CRS) is to increase the university’s capacity to secure and conduct complex interdisciplinary grants that align with the university’s scholarly strengths and strategic goals.
To accomplish this, CRS will:
1. Facilitate and support the development of large interdisciplinary proposals.
Direct services, provided during the application process or during the initial start-up of the project, are intended to complement and supplement (not replace) resources available at the local and collegiate level. During FY08 – 10, CRS is particularly interested in focusing on training and program project grants from federal agencies or large intercollegiate opportunities.
2. Make information available on supporting services, resources, and expertise
Providing information on existing resources and services can enable principal investigators to more easily submit and perform large, complex projects and will increase utilization and sharing across colleges and campuses. Connecting faculty and researchers around areas of common interest and expertise will facilitate interdisciplinary activities.
3. As a partner with other university offices, engender a scholarly environment that encourages interdisciplinary activities and projects.
The CRS participates in identifying and revising policies, processes, and practices that impede interdisciplinary activities. CRS will lead or participate on projects with the Office for Faculty Affairs and Development, The Graduate School, central offices, colleges, or centers to promote interdisciplinary activities and shared goals. Current shared projects include the Interdisciplinary Leadership Series and the multi-university Consortium for Interdisciplinary Inquiry.
