Writing Winning Grants Workshop

April 23, 2009 from 8:30am - 4:30pm
in the Radisson University Hotel (East Bank)

This seminar is designed for faculty members and research staff who have had some exposure to writing grant applications, either through training / mentoring or personal experience.  Emphasis is given to idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant's case to reviewers.  Participants are taught to organize their presentations using a linear progression of logic that leads reviewers systematically through their applications. Participants learn to write for two different audiences – the assigned reviewers, who have read the application in its entirety, and those who have read little, if anything, before the review meeting.

David C. Morrison, Ph.D., an experienced academician, grant manager, and grant-reviewer will present the seminar. Dr. Morrison’s skill and experience in proposal writing has kept him continuously funded since the early 1970’s by NIH (including a ten-year MERIT award), foundations, and industry. He is a member of multiple national review panels and advisory groups, as well as a recipient of awards for teaching excellence and innovation. He is co-founder of Grant Writers' Seminars and Workshops, LLC, through which he has helped faculty members across the nation improve their grant writing skills and their success in obtaining research support.
